Osborne Rose A5 Screen Print - Fresh Green

Artists probably shouldn’t have favourites, but this little print is one of mine.

It was one of the first pieces I created when I took up screen printing again, and it holds a special place in my heart. In September 2019, I visited Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, the much-loved former home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. I was completely enchanted by the richness of the interiors, especially the beautiful ceiling rose in the dining room.

I took a photograph of that detail and later reimagined it as this screen print. The design takes inspiration from the decorative style of Queen Victoria’s era, while a joyful splash of bright, modern colour brings it firmly into the present day. I wonder if Queen Victoria would approve? 

A small tribute to historic interiors, creative renewal and the timeless beauty of home.
